Some of the work I’m proudest of has never started with a commercial brief — from documenting extraordinary fundraising challenges and sharing photography free of charge, to teaching, fundraising and creating projects within my own community.

Being based in West Cumbria means the people, organisations and causes around me are part of the story too. Where I can make a useful difference — through photography, teaching, fundraising or simply showing up — I try to do it.

GARY McKEE
I photographed Gary during his 365-marathon challenge and made the images available free of charge, helping create a visual record of an extraordinary year of endurance and fundraising.

I later returned to photograph selected days of Gary’s 100toLDN challenge in 2026, again providing the photography free of charge.

WAINWRIGHT CHALLENGE 2024

ONE YEAR.
In 2024 I completed all 214 Wainwrights while raising money for Hospice at Home West Cumbria and Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team.

The challenge combined a personal goal with fundraising for two organisations whose work matters enormously in West Cumbria and the Lake District.
During Covid, I photographed people on their doorsteps and used the project to raise money for Whitehaven hospital.

More recently, I walked the Ullswater Way to raise money for Maggie’s.

PEOPLE OF ST BEES
A PORTRAIT
OF THE VILLAGE.
People of St Bees is an ongoing pro bono portrait project creating a wider visual record of the people who make up the village I call home.
The project is about giving people space to be seen properly, building a community archive over time rather than treating the work as a commercial commission.
