A village is made up of far more than its most visible faces.
People of St Bees is intended to become a broader and more representative portrait of the community — including people with different backgrounds, ages, jobs, interests, stories and connections to the village.
You can nominate someone you think should be considered for the project.
Not everyone nominated will necessarily be photographed, but every suggestion will help build a wider picture of St Bees.

A PORTRAIT
OF THE VILLAGE.
People of St Bees is a new pro bono portrait project documenting the people who make up the village I call home.
The idea is to photograph people individually and gradually build a wider visual record of the community over time.
Rather than creating a collection around one event or one moment, the project will grow portrait by portrait as different people become part of it.
WHY THIS PROJECT
A PLACE IS
MORE THAN
ITS LANDMARKS.
St Bees is often photographed through its beach, coastline, history and landscape.
This project is about turning the camera towards the people who give the village its character.
By building the series over time, I hope to create something that becomes a genuine visual record of the community rather than simply another collection of photographs.
