PORTRAIT PROJECT · WHITEHAVEN
FACES OF THE
NAO SANTA MARÍA

ONE SHIP.
ONE CREW.
ONE PORTRAIT
OF EACH PERSON.
During the Nao Santa María’s visit to Whitehaven, I created a series of individual portraits of the people who live and work aboard the ship.
This was not general event coverage. The focus was the crew themselves: giving each person a considered portrait within the environment that connects them.
Individual headshots with a shared visual identity.
THE APPROACH
Each crew member was photographed separately, using the ship’s deck, rigging and natural light as the setting. The framing and treatment keep the series connected, while posture, expression and background give every portrait its own character.
CONSISTENT,
BUT NEVER
IDENTICAL.

The full crew portrait series can be explored in a simple horizontal slideshow, keeping the project page concise while still allowing visitors to see every portrait.
